Ok. You need some mechanical skills to do this, so if you are all thumbs, ask someone to help you. Also you should be aware that pressurised air and electrical connections can be dangerous, so if you don’t know what your doing, don’t.
Here is what you need, get a hold of a trashed refrigerator and an old firextinguisher. make sure the refrigerator motor is working, remember they where disposed of for a reason, but often they were trashed because the Freon leaked out. Empty the extinguisher. That’s the fun part :-) and clean it thoroughly.
(1). Cut out the motor whit its mounting bracket from the refrigerator, that way you don’t need to make your own bracket, and weld it to the extinguisher.
(2). Cut a couple of flat metal pieces to make “feet’s” I used rubber doorstoppers for vibrations dampening.
(3).drill a hole and weld a fitting over it, that will hold the air hose from the compressor. Sizes for this connections comes in various sizes and therefore I don’t list them here, but I used 8mm hoses al the way, I guess 6mm will do as well.
(4).remove the extinguishers hose and replace with a fitting that will connect to your air hose.
(5). I welded on a bracket for supporting the water trap.

(6). The tubes from the motor are usually brass and you need to solder a fitting to it or have it threaded to make a fitting on the pressure side of the motor.
(7). You also need a pressure switch. All this fittings and the switch should be available from a local compressor supplier or a store like Harbourfreight.
(8). I mounted a fuel filter on the intake side of the motor to keep the dust bunnies out.

When it’s done it can look something like this. If you have been thoroughly with the assembly you should have a compressor that last for years and years at the fraction of the cost for a new one.
